Ever wanted to find out what it takes to write, cast, shoot, edit, and distribute a web series?
Well so did we, so we've decided to do it. Follow along with us as we create the pilot episode
for Jenn2.0, a show about a young social media consultant attempting to build her brand and
define herself in the ultimate connectivity of the Web 2.0 world.
One of the things that attracted our partners to “Jenn2.0″ was the fact that we only did a pilot. They perceive that as an advantage when courting networks, sponsors and other partners. Basically, it gives all parties who sign on a blank slate from which to work. In effect, they said that doing multiple episodes can be detrimental because you’ve already put a framework around where the stories and characters can go. Now, “Bannen’s Way” has been picked up by Sony/Crackle off … a trailer. What’s the best way: trailer, pilot or multiple episodes? Chime in with your thoughts based on personal experiences and/or observations.
Networking? Check. Drinking? Check. Hard work? Check. Zealous passion? Check. Trying something new and going against the grain? Check. The Streamys this past weekend symbolized all of this and also mirrored in one night, what Rob & I have been pursuing over the past 9 months or so. Awards? No. But, the execution of a legitimate business plan around the creative platform that is “Jenn2.0″. Read More
We’re proud to tell you that we’ve put the pilot up on Strike.TV. They have a broad network of partner sites to which “Jenn2.0″ will be broadcast. This is very exciting for us since exposure is key as the space continues to fill up (in a good way) with content. We continue to strive to find ways to produce new episodes and we hope to have news for you on that front soon. In the meantime, tell your friends and leave your comments!
As I mentioned in a previous post, here’s the KoldCast.TV interview with Darren & I. We really wanted to get a bunch of the cast and crew on stage, but at the time they we only allowing 2 people on Dave Navarro’s couch. That’s right, we’re on the set of Dave’s show SpreadTV. Let us know what you think and leave a comment on KoldCast.TV.
Recently the Producers of Jenn2.0 were approached by Shonell Bacon of Sister Divas Magazine in regards to our superstar Alexis Grenier and the role she represents for woman of today. Sister Divas is a quarterly magazine dedicated to showcasing women and womanly issues on topics such as health, beauty, entertainment, careers, and relationships.
Check out the interview here. You just might be surprised what you’ll learn. Like Ali’s favorite song… you’d never guess.
That’s right, we’ve been movin’ and shakin’. After all, you can’t win anything if you don’t show up! So all of us behind Jenn2.0 have been doing our best to make connections with our industry peers, talk to sponsors, and set up deals to distribute the show.
Recently we all attended the Tubefilter Hollywood WebTV Meetup at ManiaTV Studios and had a blast. It was probably one of the best times we’ve all had together (aside from that one time with the wine at the table read) and resulted in some new opportunities that we hope to be sharing with you soon.
Check out the Meetup Mashup from KoldCast.TV. You’ll hear Leslie Cardé mention us in the piece. That’s right, we did an interview with her and it’s coming soon! Oh, and you’ve gotta love KoldCast HD. Check this out full screen… wow!
It’s finally here! Through an agreement with the great people over at KoldCast TV, you can now view our pilot, “Time”. It’s been a process of just about 6 months from idea until today; one of a lot of hard work by a number of people including Rob, the NAS crew, the actors (Ali, Chad, Ian, Lourna & Reed) and Jenn Van Grove. From writing, to auditions, storyboarding, production and edits, it’s been an exciting ride. However, we’re not done … we hope. Over the past month, we’ve been working hard to find ways to produce more episodes and make the pilot but one chapter in a series of Jenn’s ups, downs, trials, tribulations, celebrations and heartaches in the social media world of San Diego. So, if you like the pilot, please post a comment on KoldCast TV and, by all means, tell your friends! Enjoy & thank you for your patience!
All of us on the cast and crew of Jenn2.0 hope that you are enjoying the holidays and had a great New Year’s Eve. We wish you the best of luck in the new year and we certainly plan on doing big things ourselves. For those of you who don’t believe in luck. Just remember that getting out, taking action, and meeting people in order to make things happen is often called luck. It takes focused effort and not much will happen without that. So again, good luck!
So we wanted to share our latest onesheet with you. It’s the “movie poster” if you will for Jenn2.0. As we have mentioned before we have our finished pilot up on a secure video host and have just begun private viewings with interested parties. The onesheet is what we send with our link to let people know about the show. We hope you like it. Special thanks again to Josh Allard for the front page graphics.
Note: Clicking the thumbnail image or here will open the full PDF (2.5MB). You’ll notice some blurred text on this public version of the back page, and that was intentional. ;)
What kind of attempt at a web series would we be if we didn’t get ourselves on YouTube? Well, I don’t think you need to be on YouTube to become popular. But, it certainly is a big potential audience and a free one at that.
Keep in mind we’re still promoting the process for making the show and that’s what we’ve done on YouTube as well. We anticipate the eventual promotional site for the show to be a bit more well put together, so to speak, and pick up where makingjenn20.com leaves off. So anyway, if you’re a YouTuber make sure to friend us and certainly subscribe (that’s the important part). Thanks!
Note: I’ve noticed that our teaser looks awesome in YouTube HD. Please give it a try. But along with the capability to handle the wide format videos comes a bit of a glitch in the channel graphics. Oh well, the videos work!
Well, we’ve gotten some good feedback about our teaser and the little taste of the show it includes. Most people are anxious to see the pilot episode, while a couple of people seemed to be confused by things that may not have been apparent in the teaser reel. It’s all good and all part of the fun of promoting a show.
So here’s the direct embed of the video if you missed it on Tubefilter.tv. I highly recommend watching it full screen. If it isn’t playing in HD, just click the Vimeo link and watch it in HD there. Enjoy.
