Networking? Check. Drinking? Check. Hard work? Check. Zealous passion? Check. Trying something new and going against the grain? Check. The Streamys this past weekend symbolized all of this and also mirrored in one night, what Rob & I have been pursuing over the past 9 months or so. Awards? No. But, the execution of a legitimate business plan around the creative platform that is “Jenn2.0″. For awhile now, I’ve been pursuing various brands about working with them to develop creative content to market their products in a new way. And, that endeavor’s been as fruitful as trying to get eggs from a rooster. However, I’ve been networking like crazy and struck up a relationship last May that has finally paid off to a certain extent.

Through research, I found a guy with whom I had a small connection; he went to school in the town I lived in before my move to LA. We emailed. He changed jobs. I stayed in touch. I followed him on Twitter. We lost touch. I re-established the connection. And, then something happened. We’re now partners with his company to achieve our goals. Will it turn into something? Only time will tell. But, it’s a step in the right direction and it sets up connections that Rob and I didn’t have. It’s also 3 more brains working on the creative possibilities for our little web series.

So, back to my Streamys analogy: the awards gave web series a sense of “we’ve arrived and we’re not going anywhere.” There’s still a door that you gotta knock on, but it may be open just a bit further now. And, that’s due to hard work, passion, execution and relationships. It’s not just how things get done in Hollywood. That’s the world we live in. Every day. Everywhere.
