The Making of a Web Series
It’s really as simple as this: Two guys have gotten together and created the pilot for a web show. We think it is good enough to shoot and that it has great market appeal… it’s “commercial,” as they say. So, we are enlisting the services of our friendly neighborhood production company, and some of the actual people who inspired the concept, in order to shoot the pilot for the show. Then, all we have to do is create a promo reel, virally market the promo, pitch the pilot to the major online networks, pick a winner, and we’re off and running. Simple, huh?
Oh, so about this site… right. We thought there might be some others out there who wondered what it takes to create a web series like ours. So we have decided to do a video documentary of all the ugly details. And, this site is our way of sharing with you. We hope you enjoy it and we look forward to some fantastic feedback!

Rob
The Creator
I’m Rob Lewis (golewis), creator and Executive Producer of the web series concept, Jenn2.0. I have been following the social networking and social media world for quite some time out of both personal interest and desire to identify an opportunity. I’m no media consultant, just an interested user and creative thinker.
I have learned a lot about Internet dynamics, but I have learned even more about the people who live their lives on, through, and around a connection to the Internet. The most substantial impact I have experienced has been from the use of Twitter, and this was the impetus for the show concept. I hope that you find a way to connect with the message of our show. And, heck I’m always open for a new connection, too.

Darren
The Writer
Darren Elwood moved to LA in December 2007 to pursue his dream of writing for TV/film and, in effect, transform the “Hollywood” sign to read “Elwood”. A lifelong east coast resident until that time, Darren loves LA and juggles several projects. In addition to being Co-Creator and Writer of Jenn2.0, Darren is Co-Creator and Writer of Trust Fund Baby, a sitcom pilot and web series. He has also written a comedy feature, The Re-Producer, which is currently in development. In his former life, Darren received a BS from Boston College and an MBA from Babson College.

Jenn
The Inspiration
Jenn Van Grove is a community-minded professional with demonstrated success in web strategy, online content development, performance metrics, and business development. Her work experience includes community management and web strategy positions at a non-profit in Manchester, NH and a Market Research company in San Diego.
Jenn is currently working as a community and social media consultant in sunny San Diego, and partners with Integral Impressions on development strategies. She is also the Assistant Organizer for the San Diego Blogger Meetup, and the Organizer for the San Diego Tweetup.

Josh
The Producer
Josh Allard is one of the founding members of the NAS video production team. Josh joined the group in January 2006 to help produce the TV magazine-style pilot “San Diego Experience” for FOX6 in San Diego. He served as a production assistant and primary graphic artist for the company’s first major venture. In the two years since, Josh has developed his writing, shooting, and editing skills to compliment his gift for motion graphics while serving as a producer, videographer, segment coordinator, and video editor on projects such as the internet television series “Viral”. He elevated to Co-Executive Producer of “Viral” and excelled as a project coordinator, producing a continuing series of promotional spots for Veoh.com.

Cody
The Director
Cody started with NAS in late 2005, as a videographer for a pilot of a television show “San Diego Experience.” With the company so new and resources limited, he quickly learned how to edit as well. His skill set only expanded further with the inception of the internet series “Viral” where he produced, edited, and starred in a segment of the show promoting Viral’s clothing sponsor, Threadless. His skills also include motion graphics and compositing, used in several NAS productions. Outside of NAS, Cody has worked as editor, motion graphics designer, and videographer on Quilt in a Day, one the leading quilting television shows in the nation. Cody is currently working towards a BA in Film Production and Electronic Media Design at California State University Long Beach.

Kevin
The Editor
Kevin Calumpit brought his talents to the NAS video production team during the summer of 2006, producing and hosting. Kevin became a valuable member of the team as a contributing videographer and editor for the internet series, “Viral,” and other projects. He can design from still and motion graphics and animations for show openings and transitions, to commercials and promotional videos. He also excels as a still photographer and photo touch-up artist, shooting and designing many of the company’s photo-based promotional pieces. In addition to NAS, Kevin has worked as a video editor and DVD author for YNR Marketing in Encinitas, CA and produced video and graphic design pieces for the Panorama Teen and Family Resource Center in San Marcos, CA. Kevin is also working towards his Digital Video and Electronic Publishing certificates at Palomar College.

Megan
The Videographer
Megan recently joined NAS after graduating from UCSC with a degree in Film and Digital Media. She brings to the team her passion for cinematography and creative content along with a natural eye for design. Megan started as a PA and videographer on the internet series “Viral” and also contributed to designs for many of the shows promotional materials. She continues to build her skills in videography and visual storytelling by shooting and creating as often as possible.

Andrew
The Sound Guy
This is Andrew’s first project working with NAS and is running sound for the project. Andrew is a San Diego native of 21 years and he graduated from Grossmont Community College with an Associates in Media Communications with an emphasis on Audio Production. He met the people over at NAS when they did a spot of his Radio Network, X1FM. He is a daily On-Air talent there and does all their production work. He has also done other radio production for San Diegos 91x, Magic 92.5, and Jammin Z90. Branching off into video production is only the next step of many as he hopes to continue his work for NAS and more importantly, Jenn 2.0.

Emi
The Color Girl
Emily began working with NAS as an intern while attending Palomar College. She earned her Associate’s in Digital Imaging in the Fall ‘07 semester. Emily worked with NAS on the 48 Hour Film Festival project where she solidified a permanent position by demonstrating her creative skills and knowledge of color theory. You can check out Emi’s color work at http://www.colorbyemi.com.
